Changing Passwords

Your password protects the security of your account which ensures only authorised users can access the College computers. To ensure your stored data is kept private and secure, you should not tell anyone your password.

From a Student PC

Log in to the student PC as normal then press CTRL+ALT+DEL

This will bring up the following window. 

Click on the Change Password option.

The following window will appear.

You will need to put your old password into the appropriate field and then type in what you want your new password to be and then confirm this.  Click OK to accept.

Changing Password at the IT Helpdesk

If you cannot remember your password, the RM-CMIS Helpdesk will be able to reset it for you.

You will need to visit the Helpdesk in person – Helpdesk is located in the Information & Booking Centre at Gallowgate, beside main Reception.  You will need to bring a form of photographic identification with you.  Your password will then be reset to your date of birth.

For students based at other sites, your Tutor or a member of Library staff will also be able to request that your password is reset back to your date or birth. 

Due to security Helpdesk are unable to change passwords over the telephone or without some form of identification.

Changing Password via S-mail

You can also change your password using the student e-mail system. From a browser type in http://s-mail.abcolstudents.ac.uk.

Click on this link and you will be taken to the password change screen.

Type in your 8-digit student ID number and your old password, then type in what you want your new password to be, confirm it by typing it again into the second box and then click on OK to change it. You will then see the following screen when your password has been successfully changed.
