What does a Guidance Tutor do?

The role of a guidance tutor is to provide a first point of call; a friendly face that will help you with any advice and support you need in your time at Aberdeen College. This advice and support ranges from pre-entry advice to decide whether a course is right for you, right until the end of your course and progression from there.

Each course in the college curriculum has a dedicated Guidance Tutor, who you will get to know very well over the course of a year. This means that your Guidance Tutor works closely with the lecturing team and therefore understands your course and aims. As well as advising and informing students of latest events, Guidance Tutors also play an important role of monitoring your attendance and attainment whilst at College, which helps you achieve your potential on your chosen course.

How can I get in touch with my Guidance Tutor?

Guidance Tutors are located in SG30 at the Gallowgate Centre; this welcoming and accessible office is conveniently based near the Learner Services Reception (South Block). There are also Guidance Tutors permanently situated at Altens and Clinterty centres. Your Guidance Tutor can be contacted in a number of ways, such as dropping in during allotted hours, emailing them or even sending your Guidance Tutor a text!
