It’s a brilliant day – you get to dress up in graduation gowns, get your photo taken a million times and make your family and friends really proud! More importantly it’s a time to give your self a pat on the back and say hello to your classmates and lecturers.

Last year over 500 students graduated over two ceremonies – here are some of their stories...

Angela Mitchell

Angela Mitchell, who works for Aberdeen City Council, collected her HNC in Administration and Information Technology at the recent awards ceremony. Angela completed her course part-time, attending college two nights each week.  She is currently taking a break from education to start a family but is considering returning in the future to study for an HND.

Kenneth and Alister Newlands

Brothers Kenneth (24) and Alister (22) have got a lot in common. Not only did they study the same course at college, HND Sports Coaching with Development of Sport but both gained direct entry to year three of the Sports and Exercise Science degree at the Robert Gordon University through the 2 + 2 initiative.

Marie Smith

Marie Smith, 19, from Stonehaven left school and came to college to join an introductory course in textiles. Having enjoyed this course, she decided to study HND Stitched Textiles and Fashion and was delighted to be presented with her award at the recent ceremony. Marie would like to work within the fashion and textiles industry in the future but is taking a year out of study to consider her options and to save some money.

He had enjoyed history and geography at school and so applied for HNC Social Sciences at Aberdeen College. Alasdair enjoyed his course and is working for a company specialising in offshore contracts. He is considering going back to university in future to further his social studies knowledge.
