Gap Year
Taking a gap year is another way of getting some additional experience before going to university. It is useful for all the same reasons as volunteering, but has the added appeal of giving you the opportunity to spend a lot of time immersed in something. There are loads of opportunities in the UK and abroad that will suit you. Remember that if you plan a trip overseas, make sure that it will be developing skills that will be useful, and make sure that you plan carefully, checking out any companies that you plan to work for thoroughly! Discuss your plan with Careers Staff to make sure you have thought of all the potential difficulties.
